AMPS - Chicagoland is a local Chapter of the. We are dedicated to serving those interested in the modeling of armor, military ground vehicles, ordnance and figures. We are of the philosophy that having a good time and enjoying oneself while engaging in the military modeling hobby is of paramount importance.
A camaraderie of armor model builders. We hold monthly meetings to conduct instructive seminars and discuss member projects. See some of our demonstrations on the Tutorials. Our monthly newsletter promotes our chapter events, provides useful modeling tips and documents the member projects that are brought forth at our meetings. Archived newsletters are available on the Newsletter.
Egypt is one of the lesser known operators of the venerable IS-3M heavy tank. The Soviet Union shipped about 100 of these tanks to Egypt between 1957 and 1967 as part of the flood of military aid negotiated between President Nasser and Nikita Krushchev. Records are spotty, but it appears that tanks were divided among the Egyptian 125. IS-3M destroyed at Rafah, 1967.
